The Syrian Engineers for Reconstruction and Development Organization (SECD) is implementing a project within the villages of Baksreya and Hanboushiya in the rural area of Jisr al-Shughur. This project supports displaced persons and vulnerable families in host communities by rehabilitating their damaged homes from 01/07/2020 to 28/02/2021. The project aims to meet the shelter needs of 400 families, benefiting approximately 2,000 people including 1,397 displaced persons, 439 hosts, and 164 returnees.
Home repairs began in early October 2020 for houses that met the selection criteria and passed the technical engineering assessment. So far, 250 houses in both villages have been accepted. Work continues on assessing the remaining homes within the project areas to maximize the project’s benefits.
Rehabilitation activities include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of doors and windows, internal and external plastering, installation of water tanks, sanitary and electrical extensions, and providing the homes with solar energy systems to be used for lighting.
